PNEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

By xavier • 2 weeks ago • 6 views • 0 comments

PNEUMATOID arthritis is an inflammatory disease which involves swelling of the sinovial membrane. When sinovial membrane is invaded by bacteria, the macrophage like-sinovial cells which line the  sinovial membrane phagocytose the bacteria and cellular debris . The macrophages may produce cytokines which may stimulate a hallmark of inflammatory process. These macrophages may leak into the sinovial fluid and erode the articular cartilage covering the epiphysis. These causes destruction of the articular cartilage unveiling the bone tissue on the apical ends leading to a bone to bone interaction in the sinovial joint. This may culminate in friction eventually leading to pain and swelling of the joint.
