AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AND IT'S RISKS by Dorcasm

An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy where a fertilised egg is positioned outside of the uterus. This is a high risk pregnancy where the dangers are experienced in the early stages of the first trimesters.

When pregnancy happens,a fertilised egg travels to the uterus to attach itself. However,in an ectopic pregnancy, the fertilised egg doesn't get attached to the uterus, abdominal cavity or the cervix.

An ectopic pregnancy does not occur like a normal pregnancy. The egg that has been fertilised has no chance of survival, and the growing tissue may bleed to death if left untreated. In cases where pregnant women bleed profusely, immediate medical attention needs to be sought.
